Malayalam films are slowly gaining popularity among audiences and this year the most awaited king of Kotha is set to come to the theater during Onam. Abhilash Joshiy is making his directorial debut with this film and its story is written by Porinju Mariyam Jose (2019) fame Abhilash N. Chandran.
Produced by Dulquer Salmaan and supported by Wayfarer Films and Zee Studios, the film was announced on 28 July 2021, while its shooting began on 27 September 2022, and was completed on 21 February 2023.
Its cinematography is done by Nimish Ravi, film editing by Shyam Sasidharan, background score is composed by Jakes Bejoy and Shaan Rahman.

Dulquer Salmaan will be seen in the role of a gangster in this film and the actor says that it is his dream project with his childhood friend Abhilash Joshi. Dulquer was last seen in the Sita Ramam and has also worked with Sunny Deol in the Hindi film Chup: Revenge of the Artist.
Gatta Kusti fame Aishwarya Lakshmi is playing the lead actress in the film while Shabeer Kallarakka and Gokul Suresh are playing important roles.
Other actors Koushik Mehta, Ritika Singh, Chemban Vinod Jose , Prasanna, Nyla Usha, Shammi Tilak, Md. Nadim Mostofa Jibon, Sudhi Koppa, Jibin V. Joseph, and Shantikrishna will also be seen in the film.

The 2-minute 34-second trailer of King of Kotha is out, in which crime, romance, drugs and gangsters have been shown along with some glimpses of the football match.
The first teaser of the film comes on 28th June at 8 pm, in which the fight between the gangsters is being seen.
