Damien Chazelle, whose work has received numerous nominations and accolades in a number of prestigious award ceremonies, including the Academy Awards, British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award, Golden Globe Awards, and many others, for films like La La Land, Whiplash, and First Man, is directing and writing the upcoming American epic period action film Babylon.

In early 2022, filming for the movie began in California, USA. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, caused it to be delayed, and instead, filming started on July 1, 2021. The team completed the entered shoot on October 21, 2022, and post-production is still ongoing.

Babylon Trailer

On September 12, 2022, during the 47th Toronto Film Festival, the first trailer for the movie was screened as part of a panel discussion with Damien, the director of the movie. The next day, it was made available to the whole public.

The movie, which is set in the 1920s as Hollywood switched from silent films to talkies (Sound Films), examines the mayhem that results as performers, directors, and others try to adjust to the new scene.

The film is an exploration of the wild lives of those creatives and the city and industry they are entwined with, as the trailer suggests. It is an incredibly outrageous recreation of vintage Hollywood, and it is undoubtedly entertaining.

Babylon Release Date

The film will have a limited release on December 25, 2022, to coincide with Christmas this year.  It was probably planned for a December 25, 2021 limited release and a January 7, 2022 general release, but the dates were pushed back owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Paramount Pictures will distribute it.
