International Friendship Day 2023 Date, History, Aim & How To Celebrate

Friends are an important part of everyone’s life and without them, life feels incomplete, therefore Friendship Day is celebrated on 31st July in all countries to promote the feeling of friendship all over the world.

In some countries, Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August, which includes India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, UAE, and USA, but International Friendship Day is celebrated on 31 July every year.

International Friendship Day History

For the first time on July 20, 1958, seeing the need and feeling for friends, Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho came up with the idea of celebrating Friendship Day during dinner with friends.

Then in the same year, Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark Cards, proposed to celebrate Friendship Day on August 2.

For many years, Friendship Day was celebrated on August 2 and August 7 in different countries, but on April 11, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly announced that July 30 would be celebrated as International Friendship Day.

How  to Celebrate Friendship Day

Nowadays, on Friendship Day, friends celebrate each other by tying friendship bands and giving cards, but this lovely day of friendship can be celebrated in many different interesting ways.

1- On this day you can plan to watch a friendship-based movie with your friends or go to the theater to watch a newly released movie.

2- You can do camping with friends at some beautiful places and you can party by taking all the things you need to make your day memorable.

3- On this day you can plan some games with your friends and also by sharing feelings with your friend, you can tell how important he/she is in your life.

4- You can refresh your memories by watching your old photos and videos with friends.

5- Even if you are away from your friends, you can celebrate this day with friends by sending Friendship Day wishes or making online video calls.
