International Jazz Day 2022- Date, History, Celebration and Aim

International Jazz Day every year is celebrated on 30 April.

International Jazz Day was declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization to highlight Jazz and its diplomatic role in uniting people from all corners of the world. It was the idea of jazz pianist, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock. Hancock is the Jazz Day Director-General. Hancock and the UNESCO Director-General chair Jazz Day.

The lead partner organization for Jazz Day is the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, an American non-governmental organization. The Institute coordinates activities within UNESCO member countries as well as the Global Host Celebration. The All-Star Global Concert is the culmination of events in the Host City. This concert features many jazz musicians from all over the globe performing at or near historical landmarks.

The main aim of International Jazz Day is to bring together all the country and community, play fostering dialogue, fighting discrimination, and promoting human dignity.
