Every year from September 1st to September 7th, India observes National Nutrition Week. This week is observed to raise awareness about healthy eating habits and nutrition.

Based on the Global Hunger Index Survey, India ranked 101st out of 116 countries in 2021, with malnutrition being the leading cause of death for children under the age of.

This week is observed to educate people on the importance of eating nutritious and healthy foods. We can save ourselves and others from a variety of diseases by implementing healthy eating habits, as good and nutritious food aids in the fight against disease from within.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA), established National Nutrition Week in March 1975 in the United States of America. This week was observed to raise public awareness of the importance of good nutrition in life.

The Indian government was impressed by this action plan and made the decision that Indians would also celebrate their own National Nutrition Week. For the first time in 1982, National Nutrition Week was established in India with the goal of solving the issue of malnutrition in India.

Following that, the Indian government started a number of schemes and programmes to combat malnutrition and undernutrition among Indians. The efforts of the Indian government and other agencies have also been successful in reducing the percentage of malnutrition, but there is still much work to be done.

National Nutrition Week is important because it is a week when a growing number of people try to learn about proper nutrition, and the government and other organizations hold various tournaments and programmes during this week to share information about necessary nutrients with people.

Carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and vitamins should all be included in our diet to help us maintain our health and immune function. If a person does not consume the necessary nutrients, their body will become weak and incapable of fighting infections and viruses.
