On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed his profile picture to “Tiranga” ahead of the country’s Independence Day celebrations. On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi urged all citizens to make the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign a mass movement.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested all citizens to display the national flag at their homes and use the ‘tiranga’ as a display picture on their profiles on social media between August 2 and August 15.
“It’s a special 2nd August today!” said the Prime Minister on Twitter. At a time when we are commemorating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, our country is gearing up for #HarGharTiranga, a collective movement to celebrate our Tricolor. I’ve updated my profile picture on social media and encourage you to do the same.”

Why is spcial 2nd August
To honour Pingli Venkhaiya, who designed the National Flag, and to commemorate “Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav,” PM Modi asked all citizens to change their profile picture to “Tiranga.”
The official journey of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav began on March 12, 2021, beginning a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of independence and will end a year later on August 15, 2023.
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a government of India initiative to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence as well as India’s glorious history and culture. The Mahotsav festival represents the nation’s awakening, the festival of realising the dream of good governance and global peace and development.
