Khan began his acting career in a supporting role in 1988 with the movie  Biwi Ho To Aisi.  He appeared in a lead role in Sooraj R. Barjatya’s romantic drama movie Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), which became one of India’s top films at the time.

In 1990, one movie starring Khan was released, Baaghi, which was a box office hit, followed by three moderately successful movies in 1991, Patthar Ke Phool, Sanam Bewafa, and Kurbaan. The following year, Khan co-starred in the rom-com Saajan alongside Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit.

In 1994, Khan co-starred with Aamir Khan in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Andaz Apna Apna. The film was a box office flop when it was released, but it has gained popularity among fans after one year. Also in 1994, he worked with filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya on the romantic comedy Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!, which also starred Madhuri Dixit. The film won three Filmfare Awards for Best Film during the 1995 awards season and received the National Award for the most popular movie of the year.

In 1995, he co-starred with Shah Rukh Khan in Rakesh Roshan’s Karan Arjun. The two actors portrayed brothers who were killed by family bad guys and reborn. Khan appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial debut, Khamoshi: The Musical, in 1996. He also made an appearance in Raj Kanwar’s action film Jeet.   In 1997, his two films were released: Judwaa and Auzaar.

Salman Khan’s next movie Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, starring Kajol, was released in 1998 and was one of the year’s highest-grossing movies. After this movie, he worked in the successful romantic drama Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai.

In 1999, Khan appeared in three films Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Biwi No.1, and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Khan appeared in the 2000 film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, which focused on the topic of surrogacy. Khan portrayed a wealthy businessperson who recruits a surrogate mother. He appeared in Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam in 2002.

In 2003 Salman appeared in the successful romantic drama Tere Naam. After the Release of this movie, many youths were crazy for Salman khan and followed the  Tere Naam look.

After This successful movie, Salman worked in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and No Entry (2005). He also worked in the Hollywood film Marigold with American actress Ali Larter. The story revolved around the romance of an Indian man and an American woman.

In 2009 Salman appeared in a Tamil movie remake wanted directed by Prabhu Deva. The film received mostly favorable reviews. That same year, he was seen in two other films: Main Aurr Mrs Khanna and London Dreams. In 2010 his Veer movie was unsuccessful at the box office. That year his next movie was Dabangg.

Ready was Khan’s first release in 2011. Ready achieved a record as the second highest Bollywood box office collection and his next Bodyguard movie was the highest Bollywood box office collection of 2011.

Khan’s film in Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Critics gave the film positive to mixed reviews. in which he played an Indian secret agent opposite Katrina Kaif.

Arbaaz Khan produces Dabangg 2, the sequel to Dabangg, which is released in 2012 was ultimately a massive financial success. After a one-year extended break, Khan’s 1st 2014 release was Jai Ho, in which he co-starred with Daisy Shah and the second release was Kick (2014).

Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman Khan’s 2015 film, was released on Eid and received critical and public praise, breaking numerous box office records. This is one of the best Salman Khan movies. His second film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), which was released on Diwali, received mixed reactions from critics.

Sultan, Khan’s 2016 film, released on Eid, received favorable reviews and broke several box office records. Salman Khan Tubelight’s (2017) movie did not impress movie fans but that year Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) was successful at the box office.

After that Salman Khan appeared in Bharat (2019) and Dabangg 3 (2019), Kick 2 (2021), and Radhe (2021) flop at the box office but Antim: The Final Truth ( 2021) received mixed reviews.
