Khan started his acting career in Lekh Tandon’s television drama Dil Dariya, which started filming in 1988, but because of production delays, Fauji, directed by Raj Kumar Kapoor, became his television debut instead. Shahrukh Also worked in the television shows Circus, Umeed, and Wagle Ki Duniya from 1989-1990.

His first debut Bollywood film was Deewana (1992). Among his 1993 releases, Khan received the most praise for his villainous roles in two box office hits: Baazigar as a murderer and Darr as an obsessive lover.
