The epic historical period action movie Ponniyin Selvan 1 star Chiyaan Vikram, who is now enjoying the popularity of his most recent release, has begun production on his upcoming film Thangalaan.

A-list director Pa. Ranjith, known for his hit movies like Madras, Kabali, Kaala, and Sarpatta Parambarai, is slated to helm the picture.

The title character of the movie, played by actor Viram, advocates for the rights of his neighbourhood. One of the actor’s most ambitious endeavours, it appears he will soon release another box office smash after the disastrous Ponniyin Selvan: 1

The Mani Ratnam-directed film PS:1, which made 500 crore rupees, overtook Kamal Haasan’s “Vikram” to become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2022.

Since its announcement, Thangalaan is also getting a lot of attention. Along with Vikram, the movie also features Pasupathy, Harikrishnan Anbudurai, Malavika Mohanan, and Parvathy Thiruvothu in key roles.

The movie, whose working title was Chiyaan 61, was billed as a period drama and has now been given the name Thangalaan. On October 23, the crew announced the title in a one-minute announcement video for Diwali that included Vikram as a tribal guy who also appears to be the head of his community. The video shows him and the other movie actors with a tough appearance.

Its first poster, which shows Vikram in a menacing and fierce persona, is also available here. Vikram and Pa. Ranjith have never worked together before, but that changes with The Biggie.

A. Kishor Kumar did the cinematography, GV Prakash composed the music and background score, and Selva RK did the editing. Tamil Praba is the author of its narrative. The movie is based on some real occurrences and is set in the pre-independence era at Kolar Gold Mines.

It will examine the history of a tribe that the British government once regarded as untouchable, as well as the hardships its members endured to defend their lands.

The high-profile pan-Indian film, which was made by Studios Green, KE Gnanavel Raja, and Neelam Productions, will be distributed in a number of languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. The movie’s creators have not yet disclosed the film’s official release date.
