India is a country where many languages are spoken which include Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Garhwali, Kumaoni, and many more but Hindi is spoken the most, and 585.2 million people speak and know Hindi worldwide.
Hindi is also the mother language of India and Hindi Day is celebrated every year on 10 January to promote Hindi and increase the interest of people around the world so that Hindi can be presented as an international language.
What is the history of Hindi Day?
India’s third Prime Minister Indira Gandhi inaugurated the World Hindi Conference in 1975 to spread the Hindi language globally.
Till now World Hindi Conference has been organized in India, Mauritius, the United Kingdom, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States of America, and many other countries and every year World Hindi Conference is organized in different countries.
Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, took another step to promote the Hindi language and on 10 January 2006 announced to celebrate World Hindi Day every year on 10 January.
Since then, the institutions and ministries of the Government of India located all over the world celebrate World Hindi Day every year on 10th January.
World Hindi Day Theme
The theme of World Hindi Day 2024 is still pending and by the end of 2023, the Government of India will announce the new Theme.
