World Mental Health Day every year celebrate on 10 October. this is an international day of mental health awareness, education, and the fight for social stigma. It was first observed in 1992 through the efforts from the World Federation for Mental Health an international mental health organization that has members and contacts across more than 150 nations.

Every year, on this day thousands of people gather to commemorate the annual awareness campaign to draw attention to the issue of mental health issues and their devastating impacts on people’s lives across the globe.

By the suggestion of Deputy Secretary-General Richard Hunter, World Mental Health Day was celebrated for the first time on October 10, 1992. Prior to 1994, the day was not a particular theme apart from the general promotion of mental health advocacy and public education.

In 1994, World Mental Health Day was observed with a theme the first time, at the suggestion of Secretary-General Eugene Brody.
