Dunki Story

At the beginning of Dunki’s story, an old Manu (Taapsee Pannu) is shown running away from the hospital. Then she meets a lawyer and requests him to meet her lover Hardayal.

Manu talks to the old Hardy on the phone and asks him to meet her in Dubai so that she can bring him back to India through Donkey and a flashback of the film is shown.

In 1995, Manu along with his friends Buggu and Ballu wanted to go from India to London to live a better life but were unable to get a visa due to poverty and illiteracy.

One day suddenly, Hardy, a former Indian soldier, comes to their village because Manu’s brother had saved his life in the war and he wanted to return some of his belongings but he did not know that he had died in an accident. Seeing the dire situation of Manu and his family, Hardayal starts helping her move to London and enrolls her in an IELTS coaching class taught by Geetendar (Boman Irani).

At the coaching center, she meets Sukhi (Vicky Kaushal) who wants to go to London to save his ex-lover. His girlfriend was married to an NRI man who physically abused her.

In the IELTS exam, Sunki’s friend Balli (Anil Grover) is the only one who passes the exam and the rest fail. After going to London, Balli tells Sukhi on a phone call that his ex-girlfriend had committed suicide, due to which Sukhi gets very hurt.

After the news of failure in the IELTS exam, Hardayal takes Manu and Buggu (Vikram Kochhar) to London via Dunki and despite a lot of trouble on the way, they reach there But the court reprimands Hardy for doing so and send him back to India.

Then the scene comes to the present where the four friends meet in Dubai and go to India via cargo container. Hardayal loved Manu very much due to which he never married and finally, he meets Manu and proposes. Hearing the proposal, Manu becomes unconscious and dies.

At the end of the film, it is shown that 140 years ago there was no visa facility to travel to any country and people used illegal immigration techniques.
