Dangal fame Indian actress Fatima Sana Shaikh was born on 11 January 1992 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her father Vipin Sharma is from a Hindu family in Jammu and her mother Raj Tabassum is from a Muslim family in Srinagar.
Before playing the young character of Geeta Phogat in the film Dangal, she had already acted as a child actress in Chachi 420 (1997), Bade Dilwala (1999), and One 2 Ka 4 (2001).
In 2008, Fatima played the character of Zoya in Tahaan directed by Santosh Sivan and the film won The German Star of India award at the Bollywood and Beyond festival in Stuttgart, Germany in 2009.

Talking about her upcoming movies, Fatima will now be seen in the character of India’s third Prime Minister Indra Gandhi in the biopic Sam Bahadur directed by Meghna Gulzar and this film will be released in theaters on 1 December 2023.
