Gudi Padwa is celebrated on the first day of spring in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
According to the Hindu calendar, this festival, which is celebrated on the first day of Chaitra month, marks the beginning of the new year and also marks the beginning of Chaitra Navratri across India.
According to Hindus, Gudi means flag and Padwa means the first day of the moon phase, so on this festival people tie a long bamboo stick with a brightly colored cloth garlanded with neem, mango leaves, and sugar candy and put it on the courtyard or any corner of the house.

Gudi Padwa will be celebrated on 9th April 2024 and this year Pratipada Tithi starts at 11:50 PM on 8th April and will continue till 08:30 PM on 9th April.
Reason for celebrating Gudi Padwa according to Hindu belief
It is believed that on this day Lord Brahma created the universe, so all Hindus consider this day as the beginning of the new year.
According to a story related to this festival, on this day Lord Rama killed the monkey king Bali and freed the people from his atrocities.
According to another belief of Hindus, a potter’s boy named Shalivahan had many enemies who wanted to kill him but the potter’s son made clay soldiers and sprinkled water on them to make them alive and with the help of clay soldiers destroyed all his enemies.
