World Music Day is celebrated every year on June 21 by 120 countries around the world, including India, Germany, Italy, Greece, Russia, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Canada, the United States, Japan, etc.

Music Day first started in Paris in 1982 with the inauguration of the Fête de la Musique also known as Music Day in English and its main objective is to bring music lovers together on one platform, encourage new talents and make music concerts free for people.

World Music Day History

In October 1981, French composer, music journalist, radio producer, and festival organizer Maurice Fleuret became Director of Music & Dance at the French Ministry of Culture, following a request by French politician Jack Lang.

In 1982, Jack Lang and Maurice Fleuret organize an event of music in Paris in collaboration with the Minister of Culture of France, In which five million people participated, out of which more than two million people played their own musical instruments. After that, Music Day gradually started being celebrated by 101 countries on 21 July every year.

How to celebrate World music day?

On the day of World Music Day, the Ministry of Culture of different countries organizes music events in which musicians and singers from every corner of the country perform.

On this day, music programs are organized in many cities at the local level and musicians perform on the streets and celebrate World Music Day with great enthusiasm.

Nowadays, many music events are being run online, in which people from all over the world can join from anywhere.
