Famous director of South Indian cinema Ashwin Gangaraju is directing a film 1770: Ek Sangram based on the Bengali novel Anandamath.
This novel was written in 1882 by the author, poet, novelist, essayist, journalist, lecturer, and politician Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, who composed India’s national song ‘Vande Mataram’
On 17 August 2022, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram’s song and novel, filmmaker Ashwin Gangaraju announced the film by sharing the motion poster with his official Twitter handle.

Ashwin has previously worked as an assistant director on the blockbuster Baahubali film series and Eega & last time directed the high-rated film Aakashavaani (2021).
As of now, the shooting of the film is yet to begin and according to some reports, the makers will start working on 1770 by 2023.
