Famous for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Devdas (2002), Black (2005), and many more Bollywood movies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has revealed his upcoming project Baiju Bawra in an interview. Bhansali says that he has been working on this project for a long time and its story is very powerful as well as very close to him.
According to some reports, it is a remake of the 1952 Hindi film of the same name, directed by Vijay Bhatt and starring Meena Kumari alongside Bharat Bhushan but the plot of this upcoming film may be very different from Baiju Bawra (1952) because Bhansali has done a lot of work in its story.
The makers plan to start shooting for the film in september 2023 and most of the shoot will be done in Mumbai but currently, they are busy with other upcoming projects named Heeramandi.
According to some media reports, Bhansali may start shooting for Baiju Bawra in the coming one or two months and many scenes of the film will also be shot on the sets of Netflix Original Series Heeramandi.
Bhansali’s first web series Heeramandi is also ready to come on Netflix in 2023 starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, etc. The story of this 8-episode series is based on the prostitutes of a brothel running in the dazzling district before the independence of India.

Baiju Bawra Star Cast
Ranveer Singh as Baiju and Alia Bhatt as Bawra will be seen in the lead roles in this film. The two actors were first seen together in Gully Boy (2019) and will now be seen romancing in Karan Johar’s directorial comedy-romantic film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani (2023).
Ranveer has previously worked with Bhansali in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015), and Padmavat (2018) while Alia worked in Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022).

The story of Baiju Bawra is written jointly by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Prakash Kapadia and both have previously worked together in Bajirao Mastani, Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), and Devdas.
Sudip Chatterjee, who has worked in more than 30 Indian films till now, is handling the work of cinematography.
He is also working as the cinematographer in the upcoming biographical sports drama Chandu Champion starring Kartik Aaryan.
Baiju Bawra is being directed by Bhansali and produced by Jayantilal Gada & Sanjay Leela Bhansali under the banner of Pen India Limited.

Bhansali has talked to the lead actors about the work of this film and told them that they are going to start working on it. So the work of this film can be completed at the beginning of 2024 and the film will be ready to hit the theaters in the winter of 2024.
