Saravanan Sivakumar also known as Suriya was born on 23 July 1975 in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India.
He started his movie career with the Tamil movie Nerukku Ner (1997) which was directed by Vasanth and produced by Mani Ratnam and got his first lead actor role in the Tamil movie Nandha (2001) which was directed by Bala but he got his first success in the movie Kaakha Kaakha (2003) directed by Gautam Vasudev.
After this, he worked in many hit movies including Tamil Movie Ghajini (2005), Vaaranam Aayiram (2008), Ayan (2009), 7aum Arivu (2011), 24 (2016), Soorarai Pottru (2020), and Jai Bhim (2021).
On 30 September 2022, India President Droupadi Murmu also honored Suriya with the National Film Award for Soorarai Pottru, directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad. Yeah, He has also worked in an AIDS awareness short movie to make people aware of AIDS.
