The famous director of Rajinikanth’s Kabali (2016), and Kaala (2018) Pa. Ranjeet is now directing the upcoming movie Thangalaan. The story of this film is based on a true incident when India was under British rule, at that time many tribals used to work in Kolar Field Gold located in Kolar district, Karnataka.
Ranjit took 4 years to write the film story after researching the living conditions of those tribals and the events that happened at that time.
The makers also started shooting the film at the beginning of October 2022, in which Ponniyin Selvan: 1 (Ps1) star Chiyaan Vikram is going to be seen in the lead role. Ps-1 was one of the most viewed Indian movies of 2022 and was a blockbuster with a business of above 500 crores at the box office.
On October 23, 2022, the title announcement video of Thangalan was shared, in which some scenes of the movie are shown. The work of the film has been completed, which was informed by actor Vikram on July 4, 2023 through his official Twitter handle.
After completing the shooting of the film which lasted for 118 days, the actor described working with the people associated with the film as an amazing experience and also shared a group photo.

Apart from Vikram, Malavika Mohanan and Parvathy Thiruvathu are also playing lead roles while Daniel Kalatgirone, Pasupathy, and Harikrishnan Ambudarai will be seen in important roles.

Parvathy was last seen in the character of Mini in Wonder Woman (2022), an English movie directed by Anjali Menon.

Netflix has bought its digital rights and it will be available to watch in multiple languages on this platform 60 days after its theatrical release. soon Netflix will announce its date.
